Watch this week's teaching

Watch on YouTube

The lies we believe about ourselves are often old — rooted in things said and done long ago. This week is about naming the lie, and replacing it with what God says is true.

Talk it over

Getting started

  • What's your favorite karate movie? (Or if karate isn't your thing — favorite sports movie?)

Think it through

  • Do you ever find yourself acting on a lie you believe about yourself? What does that look like?
  • The lies we believe are often rooted in childhood experiences. Have you seen that in your own life? How has it affected you?
  • Have you ever meditated on God's truth — sat with it, repeated it, let it sink in? What was that like?

Go deeper

  • What is the dominant stronghold in your life — the lie with the strongest grip?
  • What truths from God's Word could you write down, meditate on, and speak back against it?

This week

Write two or three daily declarations — short statements of God's truth, straight from Scripture, aimed at your strongholds. Say them out loud every day this week. If you'd like company in it, there's a free "Winning the War in Your Mind" reading plan on the YouVersion Bible app you can do with a friend.
