Some of our students have told us they want more. More than showing up, more than knowing about God… they want to go deeper in their faith and learn what it is to be close to him. So starting Tuesday, September 8, we are setting aside early mornings for exactly that: devotion, prayer, Scripture reading, and conversation together.
We call it More, and Jill Evoy leads it. We meet Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:20 AM, and every student gets to school on time. If a ride is what it takes, we will give one.
How it works
Every student gets a printed prayer journal for the Gospel of Luke, with a two-page spread for each chapter. Through the week you read one chapter a day, three days a week. Each day you:
- Praise and confess. Write out your praises and confessions, and ask the Lord to fill you with His Spirit.
- Interact with Scripture. Read the chapter slowly and write down what stands out: a verse, a question, something God seems to be saying to you.
- Intercede for others. Pray for your immediate family, friends and extended family, the church and its ministry, the sick and grieving and hurting, current events and the world, and anyone else on your heart.
On Tuesday mornings we bring what we wrote to the table. We share our questions and thoughts, talk them through, spend time with a passage together, and pray.
Season 01 runs seven Tuesdays, September 8 through October 20, three chapters of Luke a week. After that, students will have two weeks to finish the rest of Luke on their own… the same practice, without the group, which is the whole point. A habit of being with God should keep going after the season ends.
We printed ten journals for the students in the room. If you didn’t get one, download the prayer journal and print it, or keep a notebook beside it and follow the same pages.
The class page has the weeks and what each one covers.
