Every Creature Says Amen
Revelation 5:13-14
Watch this sermon
Amen is a word we say often, and we don't consider its meaning. At the end of Revelation 5, every creature in heaven and on earth says it.
We say it to end a prayer, to end a song, to agree with the pastor. Most of us say it the way we click “I agree” at the bottom of the terms and conditions… without reading what we signed.
Since February we have been in Revelation 1 through 5… three series, one journey. This message might be the last from Revelation before an extended break, and it gathers the whole thing around one word. Three Amens: the church’s in chapter 1, Jesus himself as “the Amen, the faithful and true witness” in chapter 3, and every creature’s in chapter 5. The word was never first of all something we say. It is a Person, and we say our Amen through his.
